Up and Running!

The summer of 2016 is finally upon us! All of our staff has been super excited to welcome our first group of campers for the summer. What a week we have been having! Although we started with some storms, we have been fortunate enough to enjoy some great weather for all of the activities that we have had going on. From all of our activity areas and free time, to night activities and cabin time, our campers sure do seem to be having a great time.

This year, returning campers will as always see a few new faces around. Caoimhe, our Gogebic counselor, is joining us for the summer from Ireland. More so, she is not the only international member of our staff; Jodie (in Crow) comes all the way from New Zealand, and Albert is back for his second year from Holland. They, and all of our new and returning staff, are all brining some great experiences to our campers.

As always we have some fantastic night activities. From Capture the Flag, Up, and Oregon trail night, to Holiday Night and our Initiation ceremony, campers are always amazed by the uniqueness of each night; they are sure to tell you some amazing stories on Saturday!

2012 Posts

Greetings! It is hard to believe that the summer 2013 season is only a month away. Our staff has been hard at work making sure Daggett is in tip-top shape for a great time. Our directors have been hard at work assembling a top-notch staff as always, and we are all excited for eight fantastic weeks.  As we prepare for another amazing summer on the shores of Walloon, we just wanted to let you know of a quick change to the blog. To make space for lots of new posts, we will be moving posts from last summer into a new category. All posts will still be available  but can now be found in the “2012 Posts” menu. This will allow you to find posts from this upcoming summer more easily.

Staff Week is Underway!

It is hard to believe that it is only just the beginning of the third day of our week long staff training week, because it seems that we have so much done! Since arriving on Sunday  morning, our entire staff has been hard at work preparing for a fun filled summer. After some introductions, everyone participated in some excellent team building events and adventure activities with our amazing adventure staff. Our counselors, both old and new, have learned some amazing things that they will almost certainly be sharing with campers of all ages when they get here.

After counselors found out what areas they would be working in, everyone got some time to start getting their areas ready for camp. Thanks to some hard work by lots of people, camp is looking better than ever, and families and campers will see many new things around camp that will make camp safer, better, and most importantly more fun that ever! New landscaping and a new sailing dock are just some of the many improvements that have been made at camp. But don’t let the new stuff fool you, all of our long cherished traditions and activities are still alive and well.

In addition to getting camp physically ready, we have also been hard at work training our staff in many ways that will benefit campers. In addition to getting first aid and CPR certified, our staff will be hard at work all week learning the best ways to help campers have the best week possible while at Camp Daggett. As always, having our wonderful kitchen staff here has helped keep us full and happy, as they too hone their skills for the summer. Although lots has been done, there is always much more to do. So follow along for updates and news from the Shores of Walloon!
